Executive Positions

If you feel that you need to take on more responsibility than the various committees would provide then you might consider an executive position. The 8 executive members are chosen annually from the parent body and they are required to attend all executive meetings (usually monthly) and submit a year end report. The positions are:

President
CEO, presiding at general and executive meetings, acts as the school's representative in the community. Draws up agendas for meetings, keeps general correspondence file and Corporate Book Responsible for staffing, leases, teachers' contracts, insurance, license renewal, etc. Ensures all regulations of the nursery school By-laws are adhered to. Previous RCNS executive experience required.

Vice President
Acts in the absence of the President. Assists Registrar in familiarizing new members with school. Acts as a Liaison between executive, staff and parent members. Maintains and keeps current the nursery school by-laws and school policy and procedures manual. Responsible for Housekeeping Committee, and Grounds Maintenance Committee including organizing the Grounds Maintenane Committee for the Fall and Spring Clean Ups in October and April. Organizes the class pictures in the early fall.

Secretary
Holds Corporate Seal and Minute Book Takes minutes at all Executive and General Meetings; ensures they are posted for public viewing in a timely fashion Access to a computer and experience with word processing is necessary.

Treasurer
Manages school's financial affairs and manages to bookkeeper to ensure accurate and complete financial information is logged and maintained as well as maintaining all paper records. Prepares annual budget, advises on feasibility of projected class size and structure, collects all fees and disburses the funds as required. Responsible to creating and distributing receipts for members and corporate sponsorship.
Prepares monthly financial reports and organized books. Responsible for ensuring mail is obtained and distributed to appropriate members.
A computer is highly recommended for this role and experience with finance is necessary.

Registrar
Responsible for all the registration forms and procedures through the year Prepares and updates class lists; describes school programs and policies to interested parents Upon a student's registration, assigns each family to one of the school committees. Informs Treasurer of new registrations throughout the year.

Director of Publicity and Communication
Responsible for keeping RCNS known in the community Responsible for co-ordinating the school's presence or participation at community activities. Informs parents and the community of special events. Co-ordinates the Publicity and Communications Committee. Co-ordinates the content of RCNS Website. Advertising and Publicity experience an assest.

Committees

Committee Membership
As members of the co-operative school, families are required to assist on committees or have a family member serve as a co-ordinator. Families serving as Executive members are not required to fulfill additional committee work. All members will receive information confirming the committees to which are they assigned in September.

Financial Co-ordinator
Performs the internal audit.
Monitors and controls the Sponsorship Levels ensuring all benefits and required documents according to sponsorship level are passed along to the proper individuals.
Scholastic Co-ordinator
Reports to the Director of the school. Responsible for distributing Elf/See Saw Book order forms, processing orders and distributing book orders.

Housekeeping Co-ordinator
Responsible for co-ordinating the Housekeeping Committee for monthly cleaning nights. Report to the Vice-President.

Teachers' Aide Committee
Members of this Committee will help the staff prepare materials for crafts and activities (cutting, colouring, pasting) to be used at the nursery school. Members will prepare play dough for use in the classroom, per instructions. Members will wash dress-up clothes, towels, etc. This Committee operates under the direction of the Vice-President in consultation with the Director/Teacher.

House Keeping Committee
Members of this Committee are responsible for the monthly cleaning evenings to ensure that the school, its toys and equipment are kept clean Members will repair and maintain equipment as requested This Committee operates under the direction of the Vice-President in consultation with the Director/Teacher.

Publicity & Communications Committee
Members of this Committee will prepare advertising and publicity for fundraising and special events. Members will be asked to contact parents by telephone as necessary regarding class activities, cancellations, etc. Members will be required to attend meetings called of the Publicity and Communication Committee. This Committee operates under the direction of the Director of Publicity and Communication.

Grounds Maintenace Committee
Members of this Committee will maintain the nursery school playground by cutting the grass and weeding in September and May to August. Tools and equipment for weeding are to be supplied by the parent. The lawnmower is supplied. During the winter months, the Committee will ensure that the box of gravel for the parking lot is kept full. This committee operates under the direction of the Vice-President.

Meetings

The executive meet once per month. All parents are welcome to attend. The date of the next meeting will be published on the executive bulletin board at the entrance to the school.
